Slow Burn

Wait your turn
It isn’t about clarity
Or even comparability
But patience

Have you even considered it?
The shade of your skin
After you’ve felt pure passion
It stings

Slow burn
Eating it’s way through you
From the first conscious light
To the latest twinkling night

Can you hear it?
Have you ever felt it?
Is it worth it?
Do you fight it?

Insensibility
To unconsciously tremble
Begging for quiet dreams
A sleepless traveler

Have you been there?
That confusing reality
Where it’s easier, calmer
To watch the fire

But to touch
What is life without a scar
Artistically crafting the person
That no one thought you are

Can you hear it?
Cause it’s pounding in my ears
Have you felt it?
Cause it’s worse than all my fears
Is it worth it?
The heat burns through my hand
Do you fight it?
Cause I don’t know if I can
