Homeless

I'm 3 miles from home and my last paper just ripped
I don't know how I got here and I don't know where I've been
Started out with a map and a whole lotta gin
Now I've got an empty satchel and a heart that's sick
I don't know how I got here and I don't know where I've been
Cause out here on the streets there's just no way to win
By the time you hear this I'll be on another trip
With the wind in my hair and dirt on my lips

But if you could hear my tale, who would you tell?
A few passive friends and some some hard hearted fellows
Cause I've been through the fire, I've been through hell
Sleepless nights with stones for pillows
A week without a shower and some berries for my fill
A couple quiet nights with a friend at the wheel
By the time you hear this I'll be swinging in the hills
With the wind in my hair and the city at my heels

Sit down, new friend, and consider a new feat
A dollar to your name and gravel underneath
A cold winter night with only a fire for heat
No clue where your going and no clue who'll you meet
No need for a mortgage, no chance for sleep
A few hour wait to get kicked to a new street
The creek always rolling and the birds singing sweet
No clue where your roaming and no clue who you'll greet
The chorus of the mountains singing gently with the breeze
The dancing of the lilies fall in line with the bees
The cold of the water caressing your feet
No trail for where your going, no limit to what you'll see
